About Brandmine

We find exceptional brands from the Global South—and prove which ones are worth betting on.

About Brandmine

Intelligence Where Others Can't Reach

Brandmine conducts Narrative Due Diligence—systematic documentation of founder transformation arcs that reveal leadership resilience, crisis response, and competitive positioning invisible to traditional research. Our mission: identify exceptional founder-led brands across the Global South. Our current focus: Russia's extraordinary brands—from wine estates to beauty innovators, hotels to craft producers. These brands have proven track records and export readiness, but language, cultural, and political barriers keep them invisible to the partners who need to discover them.

We don't aggregate listings. We conduct Narrative Due Diligence—documenting the crisis moments, pivotal decisions, and breakthrough outcomes that predict founder resilience. Everything needed to confidently evaluate a brand you've never encountered in a market you've never entered.

Why Russia?

Russia's founder-led brands face a perfect storm of invisibility. Language, cultural, and political barriers have kept exceptional brands—many with decades of proven track records and export readiness—hidden from international partners who would value them.

We have deep Russian language fluency, cultural understanding, and local relationships that let us discover, verify, and showcase what others miss. Russia's pivotal role within the BRICS+ movement and as a bridge to Central Asian markets makes it an essential starting point for understanding Global South dynamics. From family wine estates to export-ready food producers, boutique hotels to natural beauty brands—we're bringing these exceptional founder stories to light.

Russia is where we start. The broader Global South is where we're headed—same barriers, same opportunity, systematic expansion.

Why Malaysia?

We're based in George Town, Penang—a UNESCO World Heritage city where Chinese, Indian, Malay, and British influences created Southeast Asia's most successful multicultural trading hub. Not Kuala Lumpur. This taught us cross-cultural translation as daily practice, not academic theory.

As a key ASEAN nation, Malaysia is our gateway to Southeast Asia's dynamic markets. It's a cross-cultural Crossroads where understanding how to bridge cultural gaps and translate brand stories becomes second nature—and why we will host the Brandmine Crossroads gathering here. Penang combines UNESCO heritage with high-tech manufacturing (semiconductors, medical devices, aerospace) and direct flights to Singapore, Delhi, Shanghai, Dubai. A genuine business hub, not a tourist destination.

We're not parachuting in from Western capitals—we live and work in the markets we illuminate. What works here scales across the Global South.

Where We Are

Brandmine launched on Halloween 2025 with deep coverage of Russian wine and spirits—our most extensively researched sector, with 51 verified brands documented through native-language primary sources. We've since expanded to 74 brands and 70 founders across 11 countries and 16 sectors, including beauty, fashion, hospitality, and food production.

Our Intelligence Platform launched in February 2026 at founding member pricing. Coverage grows methodically—depth over breadth, verification over volume. Chinese electric vehicles is our next research sector, with Malaysian and Indian markets in the pipeline.

We publish our research as professional trilingual reports (English, Russian, Chinese) and through the Intelligence Platform at intelligence.brandmine.ai.

Narrative Due Diligence

Data platforms tell you what happened. Revenue figures. Funding rounds. Employee counts.

They can’t tell you why it matters.

We document the Transformation Arc behind every brand and founder we feature—what we call Resilience Profiles. Not company histories. Survival stories. The year the money ran out. The pivot that shouldn’t have worked. The moment when quitting seemed rational.

This is systematic research that reveals not just metrics, but the conviction and pattern recognition that created them.

Our framework filters for founder capability, not brand achievements. When you filter brands by attributes or signals, you’re not searching for companies with impressive metrics—you’re identifying founders who demonstrated specific capabilities under pressure. Export-Ready signals founders who navigated regulatory complexity. Crisis-Tested reveals founders who sustained operations through existential threats. These are due diligence predictors, not marketing claims.

Built by Brand Builders

Randal Eastman

Randal Eastman

Co-Founder & CEO

Brandmine was founded by someone who experienced this problem from the inside.

Randal Eastman spent nearly two decades at Dragonfly during exactly the period this platform was built to document: the compressed window of first-generation entrepreneurship in China. Starting in 2003, he built the franchise system and trademark portfolio that enabled Dragonfly’s international expansion, negotiated its first overseas franchises — making it China’s first service brand to franchise internationally, with locations in Oslo and Dubai — and defended the brand against trademark challenges in Germany and Norway — and won. He joined as a partner in 2005, serving as VP across business development, franchising, and communications. From 2016 to 2019 he served as General Manager, working PE firms and strategic buyers in an effort to take the brand to market. He speaks Chinese and Russian. He was there.

What he found was the precise intelligence gap Brandmine was built to close: exceptional founder-led businesses — were invisible to the institutional buyers who should have found them. No platform surfaced them. No database tracked their transition signals. No analyst could navigate the language or the culture. The buyers who existed didn’t know where to look. He didn’t find his buyer.
